Focus points are not a marketing thing, if you ever shot sports or social
events like weddings, theres sometimes no time to center focus and
recompose, in that time you can loose a very crucial photo such as a kiss
or a score or foul. focus points aid photographers on those situations. You
may have never used them but consider that you are not the only
photographer in the world and theres lots of specialties that require
    different technologies.

I have enjoyed your video on Composition rules very much. Thank you! 😉
I am now watching your next video on Focusing, which is also quite good
too. However, for what it is worth, it was much more pleasant and engaging
to feel like I was looking in your eyes as you were instructing in the
Composition video. On this video it was uncomfortable to watch you looking
up at the ceiling for your script – it became more of a distraction. I was
trying to focus on your eyes to listen. I hope you are not offended with
my friendly critique. I enjoy your presentation and information very
much. I will apply what I have learned to become a better photographer.
    Again . . . THANK YOU KINDLY. ;-)

In one of your other videos I had asked you that I want to enter pro field
photography. You had suggested I should start with D610…now I have gone
    and purchased D800 with Sigma 70 to 200mm f2.8 and Nikon 50mm f1.4g. I am
looking to do small projects so I can display my proficiency level. How
would you suggest I start. Need your help to get into the field of pro
photography in next 2 months max..I want to start making some money to pay
of my camera and lens expanse and last in this field as this is my life
long wish but really I have started to work on it now past 2 years.

You are the best! I’ve learn so much so quickly because of your method of
teaching which is unique to you. So many teacher agree that your method of
teaching is the best but very few apply your method.
Thank you for your time and for making us happier photographers

    Hi,

One question about selecting the middle focus point, locking the focus and
    recomposing.

I’m doing indoor photography and that method hasn’t worked for me.

I tried with a model the first time and despite that i focus here eyes and
lock the focus when i recompose and shoot the results are not good enough.

Other is the case when i use one of the eleven AF points, in this case i
don’t recompose, i try to select the AF box that is the closer to her eyes
or almost in here eyes, in this case the picture is a lot sharper in the
    eyes zone.

The central focus + recomposing works fine in outdoors or distance shot but
not in low light situations? Physically, recomposing would mean to change
the focal distance, and in a close shot that would mean several centimeters
of difference between the original focal distance (to her eyes that are at
one side of the composition) and the final focal distance (for example her
belly button that is on the middle of the frame and final shot).

    Dear tutor,

*** I think you are making an important Mistake here telling that the
focusing points are just marketing or that is a Myth. ***

I finally found Canon official tutorial with Rudy Winston and BH about
focusing, and as i thought, for professional, razor quality photography the
    focusing points are a Must.

I attach here the video from Canon with the exact timeline where the topic
is explained, is not possible to get the razor quality just recomposing.
That’s why the best cameras have more focusing points, and now i understand
why a Mark III is such a great camera.
