Panasonic G9 II Announcement: A Worthy Upgrade?

Panasonic has just released the DC-G9 II, a highly-anticipated update to the beloved Panasonic G9 that Nicholas and I reviewed a few months ago. Five years since the original, the Panasonic G9 II brings some amazing updates to an already great camera. As a user of the original Panasonic G9, will I get one? Should micro four-thirds shooters be excited?

A 500mm f/5.6 Lens on Fuji’s Roadmap – Could Medium Format Be for Wildlife?

In the small world of digital medium format cameras, the most popular system right now is definitely the Fuji GFX system, thanks to its high quality and relative affordability. Now, Fuji has just released two new lenses and the GFX 100 II, and announced a third lens. But there’s a mysterious fourth announcement that struck me the most: a GF 500mm f/5.6 on their roadmap for 2024. Could this lens mean that medium format is viable for wildlife photography? Have I gone mad?

Venus Optics Macro 90mm f/2.8 2x Field Review

If you’re using one of the newer mirrorless systems, like Nikon’s Z mount or Canon’s R mount, your native macro lens options are probably relatively limited. Fortunately, there are a lot of third-party options, including the the Venus Optics 90mm f/2.8. This lens promises a 2x magnification ratio and exacting optical performance, with an apochromatic design. It’s available in Z, RF, E, and L mounts. In this review, I’ll take a look at the performance of this 90mm option and test both the macro and normal-distance performance.
