September in Washington, DC…..

Happy to be with a workshop group in Washington, DC. I have worked in Washington a lot, but it has always been on directed, specific assignments. Never have I been able to do a wander with a camera, which I will do this week.

Already wandered to The National Mall, and viewed the astonishing and tragic power of the over 600,000 flags placed on the mall, signifying the number of COVID deaths in the United States. Graphically beautiful, and utterly sad. These tiny flags, each representing a life lost, sweep across the mall.

We have a wonderful group, as always shepherded and directed by the tireless duo of Liza Politi and Ari Espay, of Fancy Girl Street Boy Productions. We are like family, along with our participants, and we’ll shoot and critique, shoot and critique all week long here in our nation’s capitol.

It’s a wonderful time of the year to be here. The air is slightly tinged with fall. And there are pictures to be made, even now, still in the time of COVID.
