Good Morning, Easyexposure! Thank you, so very much, for this outstanding
tutorial! I’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to do a custom WB for studio
lighting, with my D7000, and even after reading the manual, checking
online, and getting help from more professional friends, my attempts have
gone wanting. It was not until you mentioned using the the small screen on
top of the D7000 to use the “pre” setup for custom WB, that all this
finally worked exactly as it should! Instantly, my photos were fantastic,
and my back ground, which is also important, was the exact color I was
using! Many thanks, and please keep up the great tutorials. I will be
back to learn more!! Thanks, again, and God Bless!

  11. Wiby WB says:

when we set the custom WB once it will work at any condition? Just like in
ur video, u set custom WB inside room, do we need set another custom WB for
    outside condition?

  12. p4big13 says:

Do i need to take pictures of the greycard everytime the lighting situation
change? like if i go out of the house then i go back inside the house

  13. weiwei6969 says:

    how do you manual focus?

  14. Derek Miller says:

I took pictures outside and they were very blue. What would be the biggest
cause is it a white balance issue?

  15. Kim van Oers says:

Dear Oksana, I know that if we take a picture and we blend all the colors
we will get an average of 18% gray. In the early days of photography some
guy determined that and that’s why 18% gray card is so important because
how does a camera know what is supposed to be gray in the day time or white
in the night time. Good example is snowlandscapes, the camera will think it
supposed to be 18% gray when blending all colors of that picture. But how
can we custom set WB with a white sheet of paper?

  16. easyexposure says:

You mean that if you set your WB to 9900k WB your color temp is yellowish
where as at 2500K its bluish? Think this way: if you set your camera WB to
9900k, it will be compensating for blue color cast, so it will add yellow
to the photo. And if you set your camera to 2500K, it will be compensating
for yellow color cast, so it will add blue to the photo.

  17. BirdOfParadise777 says:

I have been confused about white balance for a few years now. When you take
a pic of the grey card does the picture in the camera look grey? If you
take a pic of the white paper does the picture in the camera look white?
Why do you prefer to take a pic of the grey card and not a white one? And
    many other questions! lol Thanks:)

  18. fasa ifaka says:

Hi, thanks for the teachings. Its been so great, l have learnt alot of new
stuff from ur teachings but l will like to ask a question. How do you set
your white balance when your subject is far from you and you don’t have
access to be close to the subject but still want the subject to look
    natural?

  19. Murthy SPSN says:

from easyexposure tutorils i learnt a lot. i am highly thankful to you.

  20. weiwei6969 says:

is it true that white card is for white balance? grey card for exposure?

  21. easyexposure says:

@ImSuchASpecialGirl Thanks for a nice comment. I never really used Pentax,
so I can’t tell you anything from my experience, but I hear that i should
be a good entry level camera.

  22. olkim kimberland says:

White balance works with light’s temperature, not intesity…so it must not
    be a problem 🙂

  23. hamad alhasoon says:

GREAT … GREAT …. GREAT …. THANK YOU. FROM SAUDI ARABIA

  24. Andy Zhou says:

Suprisingly I use the same camera as you. Cool.

  25. Kim van Oers says:

Oh sorry and with snowlandscapes the camera will normally underexpose. But
if we custom set the white balance with white sheet of paper won’t the
camera think it should underexpose? I understand custom setting with a gray
card but not with a white sheet of paper!
