How to determine camera settings for flash photography?

Question by daniel_uy2000: How to determine camera settings for flash photography?
The most used settings for flash is 1/60 f/5.6 iso 400 or 800 if low light. There are also many other settings to use but I don’t know when to use it. For example instead of that use 1/200 or 1/250 and wider apertures. Or 1/125 or 1/20 etc….

Wow, are you using a manual electronic flash and using guide numbers to determine the aperture you need to use at a specific distance?

Most dSLR cameras have a flash sync of 1/200th or 1/250th second. Film cameras tend to be around 1/60th up to 1/250th second depending upon the brand and model

If you are using a dedicated flash made for your specific camera, you can let the TTL feature determine how long the flash duration is.
