In 2014, photographer Jesse Attanasio from ONElapse Photography set a clear goal for himself. Shoot as much landscape time-lapse as possible. For the next two years, Attanasio traveled across large swaths of land from Alberta, Canada to Southern California capturing thousands of photographs that would cumulate into his latest film, “Exhale”.
Exhale: An Adventure Filled Two Year Time-Lapse Journey Through The United States
The film is a dramatic and beautiful look at some of the most pristine and natural locations in the United States. And lucky for us, Attanasio’s attention to detail led him to create a remarkably in-depth look into every single scene and its location on his website.
Attanasio details his journeys to capture the footage that would wind up making it into the film, from his initial exploration around his home of Nebraska to his final, multi-week road trip that took him through the fire-ravaged Glacier National Park to the beautiful mountains and lakes of Banff National Park.
As I recently picked up my life and moved to Idaho, this film reminds me that there is still so much of the United States that I have yet to see, and much of it is not too far from my new home. I didn’t think I needed any more inspiration to get out on the road this summer, but Attanasio’s beautiful film has me excited for a summer of wilderness, sunsets and Milky Way filled night skies.
