camera settings on the CANON POWERSHOT SD870 ?

Question by lollipop: camera settings on the CANON POWERSHOT SD870 ?
i had a few questions about the settings on my camera. sometimes at night when i take pictures or inside, the flash is a little too strong and everyone’s skin color has a white tone. what do i change to make that flash less strong so everyone can look more natural and not attacked by the flash? i want just enough flash to make everyone visible in the picture, yet not so white that you can only see the outlines of their eyes.

Have you tried Night Mode? It’s the one one the dial with moon on it. It will still flash, but then keep the shutter open a little longer to let in some of the surrounding light too to even out the picture. Basically for the flash people have to be farther away. Another thing is to try portrait mode, this has settings where the flash is typically a little less just to fill in a daylight picture but might work better for you at night too.
