Panasonic GH7 Announced: A Serious Upgrade

Panasonic has always been known for their focus on hybrid mirrorless cameras that have both video and photo features. And their micro four-thirds GH cameras are essentially video-first, with stronger and more innovative features not available in typical hybrid cameras. This tradition continues with the newly-announced Panasonic GH7. This 25 megapixel micro four-thirds camera breaks new ground for the GH series and looks especially strong for video.

Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L Announced

Canon has just announced their widest mirrorless L-series prime lens yet, the RF 35mm f/1.4 L. The lens has an impressively small form factor and comes with some nice video-oriented features – namely an aperture ring and minimal focus breathing. It ships later this month for $ 1500.

How to Choose Between Similar Versions of a Photo

Something tough about photography is choosing between similar variations of the same photo. If you’re especially shutter-happy, you might end up with many similar photos on your hard drive without a clear “best” image among them. Although you could just pick one of these photos at random, I think that it’s much better to put some thought into your decision and choose between them carefully. The small things definitely matter in photography, and this can be a golden opportunity to put your personal style into practice.

Photography News: Rumored f/1.8 Full-Frame Zoom, DSLR Sales

By the time you read this week’s Photography News, I’ll have left the continent of Europe to be within shouting distance of the Equator. I’m spending the next two weeks in a natural paradise populated by hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, and of course great people. As the world’s 20th largest city, with over 12.4 million people, Brazil’s São Paulo is dominated by concrete, factories, and human habitation. In such a metropolis, green space feels all the more precious. Perhaps no green space here is better-known than the beautiful and serene Jardim Botânico, or Botanic Gardens.
