Photography News: New Memory Cards, Nikon 35mm f/1.2 This Month?

On Thursday, while searching through my archives for some photos for an upcoming article, I came across a series of images that brought back memories of wonderful moments spent in nature. This time it was Costa Rica. One photo in particular made me smile again after all these years—a shot of a Frigatebird, the feared pirate of the tropical seas, fleeing from a small songbird, the Tropical Kingbird. It reminded me a bit of the old story of David and Goliath.

Recall Shooting: An Unknown Feature with Great Potential

Do you know what the Nikon D5, D6, Z8 and Z9 have in common? Yes, you’re right, these are the most advanced models from Nikon since 2016, placing speed above all else. And, I’m not talking about the speed of the autofocus or the continuous shooting, but the speed at which you can change the camera’s settings when the shooting conditions change. You can do this with the inconspicuous Recall Shooting Function, which has huge potential for unpredictable photography scenarios.

Why You Should Experiment with Different Genres of Photography

Many of us have a “go-to” thing to photograph. Often, this subject or style is the reason we got into photography in the first place. For me, it is portraiture. I love the dynamic feeling of capturing a moment in time of a person’s life—whether it’s at a key event like their wedding, or creating a unique moment in the studio with creative portraiture. I also love how complex people are as subjects, and how you can convey nearly any mood or emotion in a person’s face.

Photography News: Canon 16-28mm f/2.8 Announced, Two Sony Lens Rumors

I don’t usually photograph cities. Although I live in a really nice one, I get out of it whenever I can! Still, I was delighted this Thursday when Spencer texted me asking if I had taken any photos with the Tamron 50-400mm with the sun in the frame. I hadn’t, so I went out into the streets of Prague to take one. At first, the sun was shyly hiding behind a wall of clouds, but eventually it showed up. Thanks to this, you now know that the Tamron handles the sun in the frame with ease, and I enjoyed a beautiful morning watching Prague awaken.
