Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S Announcement

Along with the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S, Nikon also introduced its first modern professional-grade f/1.2 lens, the Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S. Nikon has not been able to make f/1.2 lenses with autofocus capability on the F-Mount due to a small throat size and long flange distance (see my article on lens mounts), so aside from lenses like the Nikon 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S and the classic Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2, we have not seen an f/1.2 lens for many years. Thanks to the advantages of the Z-mount, we are now able to get much faster lenses.

Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Review

Zeiss announced its Touit line of lenses in April of 2013 for Fujifilm X and Sony E APS-C mounts. The Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 was released together with the 32mm f/1.8 lens, while the third 50mm f/2.8 Macro came out a bit later in January of 2014. Sadly, Zeiss has not announced any new Touit lenses for either mount since then, and it is hard to say whether it was the high price tags or the unpopularity of these lenses that led to the demise of the whole line-up. In this review, we will take a closer look at the Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 and see how it compares to other Fujifilm X lenses.

Sony A7C Announcement

Today Sony announced its smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sony A7C. Sporting a 24 MP BSI-CMOS sensor, a BIONZ X image processor, 5-axis image stabilization, 10 FPS continuous shooting speed and 4K video recording capability, the Sony A7C is a very capable camera with an incredibly small footprint. At a mere 509 grams of weight (including the battery), it is noticeably lighter than the Sony A7 III, and even the Nikon Z5.

Fuji XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II Review

Fujifilm updated its XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS with the OIS II version in January of 2015. Sporting an all-plastic design, this compact and lightweight kit zoom lens was designed to be used with Fuji’s entry-level X-series cameras for everyday photography needs. It came in two different colors (silver and black) to fit different camera styles. Despite its decent performance as an all-around kit lens, Fuji decided to discontinue it in favor of the newer lenses like the XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ and XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS. In this review, we will take a look at the XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II in detail and compare it to other Fujifilm lenses.

Fuji XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR Review

Announced in July of 2019, the Fujifilm XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR is a professional-grade ultra-wide angle zoom lens designed for landscape, architecture and environmental portrait photographers. Sporting a fast f/2.8 aperture, a metal weather-sealed body, complex optics and modern coatings, the Fuji XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR is an exceptionally well-made lens with very consistent performance characteristics. In this review, I will be taking a closer look at this lens and compare it to other Fujifilm lenses, such as the XF 14mm f/2.8 R and XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS.
