Taking a Break from the Blog for the Book….

No blog this week. Will be back at it next week. I am on deadline for the new book, and my dear friend, excellent editor, and Lord of the Words Ted Waitt has given me until Monday to finish writing. Bastard!

No, it’s a good thing. We are racing to the finish line on this for publication in late 2021. Seeing as I’ve been noodling this book in my head for the last five years or so, it’s strange to be facing….the end. But we’ll go to press soon. The Real Deal: Field Notes from the Life of a Working Photographer will be out in December of this year, Lord willing and the current global supply chain knots don’t keep all the copies bobbing around on a freighter in a harbor somewhere. There’s a brief description here.

Mayhem, pixels, windows, bridges, the occasional corpse, gels, flash, famous people mingling with the not so much, ups, downs, failures, luck, loss, and lights. As I say right at the beginning: “I imagined a life. And then took pictures of it.”

More tk…..

An Abundance of Good Cameras

We’ve reviewed 28 full-frame digital cameras so far at Photography Life. Every one of them has gotten at least four stars. In the abstract, that sure seems like too much – but when I look at each camera again, I can’t help but think every single one deserves it.

Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR Review

The word “superzoom” doesn’t always conjure pleasant images in a photographer’s mind. Historically, a lot of superzooms are low-end lenses with bad image quality and even worse construction. The $ 900 Nikon Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR aims to change that impression. Does it succeed?

To the Guy Who Accused Me of Faking My Macro Photo

There’s a long and sordid history behind staging and faking wildlife photography. It’s anything from lying that a zoo photo was taken in the wild, to baiting wildlife, to even killing and then staging the corpse of an animal.

32 Member Photos that Capture Movement

At Clickin Moms, one of our favorite long-running traditions is the bimonthly forum contest. We announce a new theme at the beginning of the month and our fabulous members share what they were inspired to capture.

In March and April, the Clickin Moms community worked to create images for the theme “Movement” and they definitely inspired us!

Today we are sharing some of our very favorites for you to enjoy here. We are thrilled to congratulate Jill Carson for her winning shot (above) that has earned her a live Breakout session from Click Photo School!
