Best Wildlife Lenses for the Nikon Z8

If you bought a Nikon Z8, you probably already know that it is one of the best cameras for wildlife, period. Not only does it have the same autofocus system as Nikon’s flagship Z9, but it manages this high performance in a much more compact and portable body that is great for traveling.

Scientific Photography: Where Art and Science Collide

Scientific photography bridges the intersection between art and science. It combines what I love about photography with the process of discovery, truth-seeking, and documentation. The end goal is not just to understand the world around us but to depict our discoveries in an inspirational way.

Photography News: New Sigma Lenses, Faster CFexpress Standards

What would a world without colors look like? A world reduced only to shades of gray? I was inspired to revisit this altered reality after some time, partly because of the updated version of the DxO Nik Collection plugin and partly because I will have a Leica Monochrom camera on loan for a short test soon. I’m really looking forward to it. And perhaps some of this week’s news gives you reason to be excited as well.

Photoshop World 2023

Coming up next week! Very grateful to be included in the informative, classy, lively universe known as Photoshop World, kicking off September 5-7, online. A virtual, rich repository of information and learning over a few days in the comfort of home – or office. I’m proud to contribute a class called – Finding Success: Skills and Strategies for a Working Photographer. Conference Registration here.

Photographers are the most adaptable of storytellers, often thrown (occasionally unceremoniously, depending on the editor of the story) into an unfamiliar mix of elements, involving people and place, and it’s up to us to quickly find a beginning, a middle, and an end. We have to move our viewer pictorially, intellectually, and emotionally. It’s a tall order.

We use imagination…

Timing…

Camera skills…

Humor…

And pure luck.

All will be under discussion, in addition to the notion of adapting and developing what I’ve always referred to as the “rolodex of survival” as a photographer.

Tune in next week. Photoshop World 2023 will be a place for great learning, laughter and motivation from a group of skilled visual communicators.

More tk…
