I’m not a photoshop expert.
Nor am I an excellent photographer.
But in taking pictures of myself I try to make them look interesting in the angles, colours, background content etc.
Nothing pervy btw, if it sounds so ._.
But any tips for taking a really striking photograph?

You can do lots of cool, easy things to make your photo look better in Photoshop… without altering the original look and feel of the photograph, either.
Go to the Image menu, then go over to Adjustments. Everything in this menu will alter the look of your photograph. The easiest one to understand is Brightness & Contrast. Bumping up the contrast of a photo usually makes it look better. Hue & Saturation is pretty simple to understand too… here you can play with the saturation of each individual color.
Or, if you want to make it REALLY easy, just go to Image>Adjustments>Auto Levels… Photoshop will automatically try to figure out how all of those settings need to be changed to make your photo look the best… and it works pretty often.
