Schools out! It’s your last year in high school, and you want to leave your mark. Your senior portrait should be an expression of whom you’ve grown to be, and where you want to be when you’re done. This is the one time in your formative education where it’s acceptable to color outside the lines. It is at this point that you can decide to go with a cap and gown picture, or maybe just one of you holding a diploma. You can take these pictures indoors or outdoors, in an evening gown or your favorite pair of pajamas.
You may also take this opportunity to express where you’re going next year. Are you a future Harvard Alumni? Then show it off by taking a series of pictures in a Harvard sweater! Absolutely loved playing on the baseball team? Bring your jersey and gear and meet us on the field! Going to take a break from school and travel across Europe? Why not take a picture of you walking down the beach with a backpack? No matter where life takes you, the future is yours. Seize it by the horns early, and express yourself with your senior portrait. And maybe, ten years down the road, your picture will be the one most talked about at the reunion.
Just make sure you talk with your parents and your photographer about any ideas you may have. The more open those lines of communication are, the happier both you, and your parents will be with the final outcome.
