Question by lqv99: I need help with low light photography camera settings. I am using a Sony Alpha 200 digital?
I don’t want to use a flash. I have been photographing live bands in nightclub settings. Most of my photos turn out grainy and my subjects who are moving on stage appear blurry. I have the best luck using the highest ISO and selecting the action setting on my camera. This helps with the blurriness but the photos are very grainy and not sharp. Any suggestions?

That’s the trade-off. High ISO will result in grainy photos. If you add light (flash) you can shoot at a lower ISO.
But flash means harsh shadows. The bands I’ve shot for prefer the high ISO shots. Despite the graininess, they look more natural. Plus, the blur can be a neat effect.
I agree with you, don’t use the flash. Live with the graininess.
I have sometimes been able to talk to the lighting guy and work with them. Either to periodically provide a few seconds of white light, or slow the flashes. The constant changes of color really screw up my camera’s exposure controls.
