Over time our memories fade but when photographic images of a wedding day are captured, everything comes flooding back; digital wedding photography has changed how wedding photographers can carry out their work ensuring the day is captured on disk. Many couples have DVD’s made of their day, which are great for some special moments but you can’t beat a traditional photo.
This isn’t easy; creating that perfect shot if you are taking photographs without help as there is only so much you can do on your own without help. So, if you need some help for a wedding you are to attend and you are going to use a digital camera, then you may find some useful information in this article.
Many amateur photographers make the mistake of taking pictures with a boring background which is not something you want in a wedding photo. Often the couple is in the thick of a crowd and at this point it may be easier to try and capture just their head and shoulders.
Try to get guests that have spectacles on to either remove them or hold their head at an angle so that there isn’t a reflection obscuring their eyes. If there is someone in the group that you particularly want to take a photograph of but they are in a crowd then try using the zoom, it will give a good close-up that you wouldn’t achieve any other way.
Natural, wedding photos always look better than staged ones but difficult to capture when you are too close so a powerful zoom lens is a great advantage. As you can’t keep asking people to pose for you, always have the camera to hand because digital wedding photography is just as much about having natural, un-posed for shots.
Probably the most important thing to remember with digital cameras is to have plenty of memory in your camera plus fresh batteries and the best way to ensure this is to always carry spares. For 6 mega pixel cameras and up, the absolute bare minimum should be a 1 gigabyte card, preferably 2 gigabytes and always use the highest resolution your camera can manage if the images are to be printed.
High resolution images are generally clearer and have greater color depth but it also means they can be printed out at larger sizes. Storing the wedding images on a computer or CD will mean that you can print them off whenever you want but a presentation CD can be played back on a TV.
If you are used to regular film photography you may find the change to digital wedding photography a little strange at first but persist and you may find you enjoy it more.
