How do I take good pictures/blurry background?

Question by Christian101: How do I take good pictures/blurry background?
Are there any main/must do things to check before taking a photo( flash, ISO, etc.)

Also how do I take a pic where the background or forefround is blurry while the other is in focus-

Read up about ‘depth of field’ which is what your referring to. You want an image with a shallow depth of field.

It’s controlled by 3 factors;
– aperture of the lens (the wider it is the shallower the dof)
– camera distance to subject (the nearer it is the shallower the dof)
– focal length of the lens (the more telephoto it is, the shallower the dof)

The level of dof you can achieve depends on the lens & camera you have. If you have a compact (point & shoot) camera it is often difficult to get shallow dof because of the very small size of the sensor.
