Compositional Tips For Photography

Photography can blow everybody away when it’s done right. Unfortunately, not too many people know how to do it like that. This article will show you how to take better photos with some simple killer photography tips.

What’s the key to great photos?

I’m sure everybody’s asked this “mysterious” question before. Well..there really is no key. People that are looking for the single answer are going to be the same people broke for buying the most expensive camera. Equipment is NOT the answer. Learning composition is.

There are many tips for improving your composing in photos. The first thing to do is look at your photo and analyze the space within it.

There are two types of space in your photo: positive and negative space. Positive space is the space surrounding your subject. Negative space is the background, etc and everything else in the shot. Balancing these two spaces right is the start to composing. Lots of positive space will make the photo composed primarily of the object of importance. Little positive will add lots of extra room and can create a sense of freedom or being lost.

When you take pictures, you need to start looking at everything in the shot. Look at the lines, the curves, the colors. Notice their effect on the shot. Note how changing an angle can make the photo more powerful. Making lines more directed towards the subject will add more impact to the subject photographed. Also, making the main object of importance the brightest and everything else less bright will add more impact.
