Brilliant, they just quoted me 1/2 of what Photoguard are charging me!
    Thanks for the pointers.

There is a pretty new service from America called LensTag, Jared Polin had a chat with the guy who came up with the idea.

I don’t believe in god, I believe in Nikon.!

A very good site for recording serial numbers here for anyone in the UK, google
    *immobilise*

  5. gardnerphotographs says:

My sigma 50mm 1.4 has a serial number starting with 13 million so I dont think it is anything to do with number produced

I use a company called photoguard. about the same level of cover as Dom’s. Remember to check if it covers your gear while traveling. Also consider public liability cover, should someone trip over your tripod or bag and break a leg and decided to sue. Even if not a pro you really need to have that cover in today’s ‘where’s there’s blaim there’s a claim society’

    Where’s Dookie!.. (Budweiser commercial)

  8. Jean-Pierre La Forest says:

Hey Dom, it is quite common practice for manufacturers to start the serial # at a point other than 0 so people can’t know how many are produced. For example, my Canon 18-55 IS II has a serial number in the 6 billion range, and I doubt everyone on Earth has one 🙂

  9. Caroline Bown says:

Is this including Public Liability Insurance too Dom? Sounds a great deal.

  10. speckyprick says:

I use them too, never had to claim but the price is good and they cover all my computer stuff as well 🙂
