It has been well over a year since we held our first reader event at Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls, Canada. We are planning another reader event at the facility on Saturday February 11th. I’ll be there before the attraction opens to the public at 9:30 AM so attendees will have some ‘meet and greet’ time.
There are a number of different display areas at Bird Kingdom with two of them featuring free-flying birds. There are also some displays of reptiles, and some night creatures including Egyptian Fruit Bats.
Longer focal length super-zooms (for example 150-600mm) and telephoto lenses can be used in the Main Aviary as it is quite open and large, but these types of lenses may be a bit of ‘overkill’ in many of the other areas of the facility. Much of your photography can likely be done with a 300mm prime, or zooms like a 70-200mm or 70-300 zoom. Extension tubes to help shorten the minimum focusing distance of your lenses often come in handy.
There is parking on-site and if you get there before the facility officially opens you should be able to get a good parking spot. Parking is $ 3.00 per hour but if you live reasonably close by and plan on visiting again an annual membership is worth the upcharge as it also provides parking at Bird Kingdom. Hope to see as many of you as possible on Saturday!
