I didn’t go to school for photography therefore I am not a photographer and I can not be good at it: WRONG! You don’t neeeeed to go to school to become a photographer! Nor does going to school for photography make you “good” at it. A Photographer is someone who takes photographs using a camera. You can be a Professional Photographer who uses their profession to make money doing what they love. Or you can be an Amateur Photographer and do photography as enjoyment. As long as you love what you’re doing and you believe you’re photographs are truly awesome then you are a photographer!
I can’t sell my photography because it’s not good enough and I don’t have a job doing it: You CAN sell your work. You don’t need a job doing so. Get yourself out there. Start by getting some frames and framing up your best pieces. Look in town or around town for a local craft fair maybe try to get one of their booth rentals and set up a booth for selling some of your work. Be patient good things come to those who wait. You won’t be famous in a day! If you’re really good at doing say portraits maybe ask some neighbors that have families to take some photographs of them (don’t ask for pay on the first time they might not like that LOL) but once you give them those photos and they like them they may have you do their portraits instead of Walmart and pay YOU! You are good enough at what you do you just have to believe that. A picture shows the passion of the photographer.
I don’t have a very expensive photography camera so my pictures are not as good as people who do and I don’t look like a photographer with small camera: You DON’T need a big expensive camera the best part of being a photographer is just taking pictures as long as you love what you do and the pictures you take doing it there’s really no need for a camera worth thousands of dollars. If you really want one then you still can do photography and save up for one read into them find the one that would best suit you and your lifestyle. Just because you use a small camera doesn’t mean you can’t feel like a photographer silly! Love your art and what you do and you are a photographer! It’s the art of taking photos.
It’s all in how you take what you do and where you decide to go with it that sets the difference between a photographer and someone whom just takes pictures. If you have the passion and the drive to take artful pictures and it’s a part of your life then you are a photographer simple as that. Do what you love and love what you do!
