PHOTOGRAPHY: How to Back-Up and Protect your Picture Files
Ok so here’s the video we recorded yesterday showing what ‘my’ Backing Up
Solution is thanks to +CHNO Technology Ltd
I say ‘my’ because it won’t be suitable to everyone and we put this video
together to give you an idea of workflow and also ‘food for thought’
especially since I have lost EVERYTHING in the past (and yes I waned to cry)

PHOTOGRAPHY: How to Back Up and Protect your Picture Files
I may have to re-look at my back-up structure now!
7:00, What is the single bay unit for, annual archiving? How does it work
for you?
Good to hear you’ve found yourself a solid backup solution 🙂
Always love a gander at other peoples solutions. You can never have the
perfect system. This has actually made me want to rethink my travel
solution.
Glad that works for you. My solution is CrashPlan. Unlimited online backup
for $60 a year. That combined with a 25 Mb/s upload is great. Thanks for
the vid.
Thanks for the great demo, Glyn. I’m really interested in the ToughTech Duo
system, is it possible to dedicate a speacial showcase for that device in
the future. Thanks again! :)
What is the difference between online backup and this backup system? isn’t
online backup much better?
over kill but to their own. y touchtech? no usb 3.0 or thunderbolt
What happens if you fill up all 3 terabytes in the lower section of the
system in other words fill up your whole system
So just to get my head around this, as I’m about to embark on the dreaded
backup management system soon!
The 4-bay drive contains all your files spread over multiple drives. The
2-bay contain all the data from the 4-bay but mirrored across 3
interchangeable drives, the 1-bay drive is for plugging in any archived
drives and the Silver drive is location files mirrored across the disks?
Cheers
Your video has lines in it. If you want to fix that, render your video out
as progressive not interlaced.
:)
Thanks for sharing. Right now, I’m relying on CrashPlan and a drawer full
of USB drives. Time for a better solution. You’re right that CrashPlan is
always playing catch-up in trying to get files to their cloud servers.
What I didn’t realize was that this meant critical files weren’t getting
backed up regularly because it was always busy trying to upload the new raw
files. When I recently needed to restore my Lightroom catalog file, oops,
it hadn’t been backed up in about three months. And external drives that
rely on manually copying files are only as good as your discipline in
making those copies.
Great overview Glyn I have to agree with the point on cloud backup. 480Gb
of Data is a years worth of fair usage on most ISP accounts, not allowing
for any downloads.
