I would think a backpack would be better for walking around with. Nothing
is swinging back and forth or hitting your leg. Personal preference really
    i guess

Thank you Nick for the very useful suggestions
I just purchased a Nikon 5300 SLR with 18-55mm VR II Compact Lens Kit
and it is my first SLR camera ever .I will mainly use it for shooting
nature sceneries and posing people.Do you have any recommendations for
lenses to serve these purposes mainly?
Also any recommendations for a nice bag that offers a better mobility and
accessibility while carrying (camera+1-2 lenses) around ?

Good video! I tend to you a backpack that can carry my entire kit,
however, most days I go shooting, I only carry 3 lens, as it keeps me
focused on shooting and not trying decide the “right” lens.

Great video. Maybe you posted it but what brand of pack was that you were
showing as your go to bag. Thanks.

Very true video! Limiting yourself not only saves your back (outch!), but
taking only two or three lenses makes you think about a shot even before
you leave the house. What kinds of pictures will you be taking? This brings
more thought and creativity to your photography and teaches you all sorts
of things. As a result you get better pictures and better health ;).

I had the same problem with all my camera gear. Last weekend, I went out to
a public event(wine races) and just carried my 5Dmkii+sigma 28-70mm without
a bag. I hate carrying my camera backpack, flash and lenses these days.

Your comments ring so true. I am at the backpack stage and it is getting
really heavy to carry everything that I am looking at much smaller bags,
like yours. My back is also suffering from carrying around everything.

My very basic equipment is just my Canon 6D body, a 17-40mm f/4 L and a
    GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition.

Hi Nick, I noticed that you are not using front cap or maybe even filter on
your lens. Am I right? Do you worry about lens getting scratched somehow?
    Thanks.

I’m at the point where I’m usually carrying my backpack which includes
audio gear and video support equipment. Mostly because I want/need to have
my laptop too. When I don’t, I usually run around with just three lenses
    and a videomic pro.

  18. techdude6693 says:

I’m right with you on the smaller is better too. Everyday Use, I’ll carry
my camera with 2 lenses in my Crumpler 4 million dollar home and it works
great. All I need extra usually is an 2nd battery and I’m set. I do have a
full size bag that I’ll store all my equipment for events or things

    All thats necessary for me: T3i – 24-105 – Flash – 50mm 1.8…thats all!

You are spot on. I’m a press photographer in the uk and carry a backpack
with 2 bodies, 3 lenses, two flash guns, laptop and a load of other little
bits. The last thing I want to do on the weekend is carry that bag anyway.
It’s much more fun to take one body and one lens out for a walk.

excellent video and spot on the issue, fully agree

  22. Alphfirm says:
