How do you create “day for night”?

Question by Emmy: How do you create “day for night”?
How can you use the camera settings as well as lighting fixtures to create a “day for night” scene?
For example, if you were shooting a night scene with a window at 10am?

Well the window is going to be very bright relative to the indoors. You can put a lot of neutral density gels on the window to darken it and then use a tungsten color balance to make it look blue outside while the inside is lit with tungsten lighting and will look natural. You can also ad color correcting gels to the window to get the color balance you like.
